At Nuru Diversity LC, our service settings adhere to HCBS service setting requirements, ensuring a supportive and inclusive environment for all individuals served. Our comprehensive approach includes the following key elements:

Community Integration

Our settings are integrated into the greater community, providing full access to resources and amenities such as shopping, recreation, restaurants, religious services, exercise, healthcare, personal grooming services, and opportunities for competitive and integrated employment.

We carefully select locations to avoid overconcentration or isolation of individuals served, ensuring a balanced and inclusive community presence.

Our settings facilitate individuals’ ability to access community resources without total dependence on Nuru Diversity. Adaptations are made as needed to ensure access.

Public transportation is available at our settings, or alternative means of transportation are provided where public options are limited.

Our settings are designed to be physically accessible, with adaptations made to overcome any obstructions such as steps or narrow hallways.

Individuals served have unrestricted access to the full setting, fostering independence and freedom.

We prioritize the privacy of individuals served, ensuring they have private spaces within our settings.

Our settings fully align with HCBS settings requirements, promoting autonomy and independence.

Individuals served have the right to initiative, autonomy, and independence in making major life choices, with their preferences optimized and not regimented.

Individuals have the option to choose their living or service settings from available options, including non-disability specific settings.

Individuals served may have visitors of their choosing at any time, respecting their personal preferences.

Individuals served control their personal resources, fostering financial independence.

Individuals have the freedom to control their own schedules and activities, supporting their autonomy.

Individuals may come and go from the setting as desired, promoting independence.

 Individuals have opportunities to pursue competitive, community employment as desired.

Individuals have access to the community to the same degree as their non-disabled peers.

Individuals have access to food at any time and can choose when, what, where, and with whom to eat.

Individuals’ rights to privacy, dignity, and respect are protected at all times.

Individuals are free from coercion and restraint, ensuring a safe and respectful environment.

Our settings are either owned or rented by Nuru Diversity and are occupied under legally enforceable agreements, providing individuals served with protections from eviction.

Individuals are made aware of their relocation and housing rights, ensuring they are informed and empowered.

Entrance doors to houses and bedrooms may be closed and locked by individuals served, with only appropriate staff having access.

Individuals have the freedom to furnish and decorate their living units, expressing their personal preferences within their lease or agreement.
